Neck Pain and Headaches

Neck pain treatment osteopath BathDo you suffer from neck pain?

Many people suffer from neck pain or stiffness, and it is one of the more common symptoms that we hear when people visit our clinic.  Many people will put up with neck pain (if it is mild), thinking that it is a normal state of affairs, however it can usually be easily treated.

What causes neck pain?

The neck is a hugley complex and sensitive area of human anatomy, it has to provide protection for important structures and allow for quite a lot movement of the head.  To allow both of those things there bones, joints and muscles of the neck perform complex related movements, even a small disruption to these patterns can lead to painful symptoms.  People commonly complain of pain after sleeping in a different bed on holiday, prolonged computer work or after a trauma such as whiplash from a car accident.  Problems with the neck can also contribute to headaches of various types, this is very a very common for people to mention when they have neck pain.

How can Seeing an Osteopath Help?

Firstly, seeing a registered osteopath, means you will get a full professional diagnosis of the problem. This is important, as self diagnosis or guessing at what the problem is might prolong your discomfort.

Once we have diagnosed the issues, we can help you in a number of ways depending on what the problem is. Everything from massage, joint articulation and manipulation, to carefully prescribed exercises to help alleviate the pain. We will even give you advice on how to stop the problem reoccurring.
